Championing Change: Enhancing Black participation and festivals and events

Despite being the basis of so much of popular music, the percentage of workers from the Black community running shows is incredibly low. In this important session, at 10am on Thursday 26 September, a number of expert speakers will discuss about what the industry can do about it.

Chaired by Pax Nindi (Global Carnivalz/Festival Lab), this session will cover a range of issues – from industry-led schemes to encourage Black production professionals, to festivals embracing and promoting Black and Brown music and ensuring that Black art runs through their DNA.

Others bringing their unique take on this important issue are: Kwame Kwaten (Ferocious Dog), Chris “Tofu” Macmeiken MBE (DJ, Glastonbury, Bestival etc), Hannah Shogbola (UTA) and Dotun Bolaji (Primary Talent International).

Come and join the conversation on how the business can ensure that festivals and their teams are fully reflective of the societies in which they operate. And for more details on the agenda at IFF click here.
